Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington in Ohio and moved at Los Angeles. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first role as Rachel's Room's main character the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons of 2004 and was awarded with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with the rest of the cast) with her. Grace was a co-star together with Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, decided to make the move into the world of film. Grace has been as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in Californianation, the sixth Season. She portrays Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor appearances in her father's films and appeared with her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. After several commercially successful films in 2006, including World Trade Center she received wider recognition for playing Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Nominated in the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role on the film Crazy Heart, (2009). In the following years, she appeared in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Other roles she has played include a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal made her debut as a writer and director in 2021 with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
