Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was five, she moved from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing as well as dancing, and also acting. From the age of 10 she was involved as the lead in a number of Stagecoach School plays and productions. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were chosen to play three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's screen debut came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records in its first day sales as well as its opening weekend earnings. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially those who were young. The well-known British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a Film. Film.
